Weakness to Witness: Thomas's Story from Eternity

A creative imagining of Thomas’s story from eternity, where doubt becomes boldness, and scars give way to sending.

I remember fear-filled rooms and broken hearts.

Then impossible words and confusion.
It can’t be true.

I remember the weight of my anguish,
the weight of my doubt,
the stubbornness of my demand,
the hesitancy of my hope.

They had seen Him.
But I [pause] had missed it.

I remember a week of wrestling and wondering,
of hoping and doubting.
Forever then,
but now, just a blip.

And there He was.
Not scolding, not angry.
Just like a Father in a garden, saying,
“Where are you?”

An invitation:
to touch,
to see,
to believe.

I remember those scars—
torn skin from nails and spears,
splintered wood.

Blood poured out like wine.
Body broken like bread.
All doubt stripped away.

Doubter.
That’s what they call me.
That’s okay. It’s true.
But who I was
is not who I am.

My doubt, redeemed.
My weakness became my witness.
The burden of doubt
became a burden for mission.
His story, His love, His invitation.

And like me, I remember her hiding at the well,
shame turned to story.

I remember Peter,
sinking, denying,
then preaching with power.

I remember Mary Magdalene,
once demon-driven,
now Spirit-led.

I remember Paul,
murderer turned missionary,
carrying good news across empires.

What should have disqualified us
became the proof of grace.
What was broken became the vessel.
And in His hands,
the cracked jars poured out His story
like the best wine.

And I remember reaching Heaven.
No longer searching for scars,
but running for embrace.

Hearing His tender voice whisper,
“Welcome home.”

For this is the wonder:
God sends doubters.
God sends deniers.
God sends sinners.
God sends the weak.

So now,
from my side of eternity to yours, hear this:

Rise, doubter.
Rise, denier.
Rise, sinner.

Believe.
Go.
Tell.

Until faith becomes sight,
and you, too,
embrace Him whole.
