April Sawyer knows the “sticky era” of motherhood—Cheerios in the car seat, toddler handprints on the windows—and the ache of infertility and miscarriage. She has learned to lament honestly while inviting the Church into those hard places. In both joy and sorrow, she helps women discover the freedom of God’s love and the joy of reading His Word with curiosity and confidence.
She holds graduate degrees in Intercultural Studies (SEBTS) and Occupational Therapy (UNC) and a Bachelor’s in Special Education (Clemson). Her background fuels her desire to remove barriers and make spiritual growth accessible to women at every stage.
Professionally, April is a school-based occupational therapist, where she collaborates with students, families, and school teams to increase accessibility, participation, and belonging. Her passion for accessibility extends beyond the classroom to her work as a writer and Bible teacher—making Scripture approachable and life-giving for women in every season and every stage of faith.
She writes for a variety of Christian publications and community networks, sharing reflections on belonging, discipleship, and everyday faithfulness. Sample pieces can be found in the Published section of this site.
April currently serves as Communications Director for CBA Women, a women’s ministry initiative of the Charleston Baptist Association (cbawomen.org), which exists to empower, encourage, and equip women in ministry across the greater Charleston area.
Whether in a classroom, small group, or around a kitchen table, April’s heart is to help women see that God’s Word is not distant or complicated—it’s living, accessible, and meant to draw us home and toward one another.
